Following the successful completion of Norfolk House in Milton Keynes, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office appointed Forme UK to create the interiors for Northgate House, a building located near to the centre of Milton Keynes which offers dramatic views of the surrounding area.
Through the floor to ceiling glass façade which allows the sunlight to flood into the spaces, we maximised the use of this natural daylight by incorporating glass partitions to the central floor areas which maintained a visual link throughout to help communication.
Our aim was to design a modern and sophisticated office environment which placed great importance on the environmental sustainability of the building in the design process. Over four floors, we introduced facilities to ensure the successful and efficient operation required by the FCO including recycling and print areas and also large break-out areas adjacent to external terraces to allow staff and visitors to meet or work in a more relaxed environment.
Forme UK are very proud that Northgate House became the first refurbished building on the FCO home estate to achieve a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.
